PREVENTION PROGRAMS

 

CHOICES FOR SUCCESS

 

Choices for Success is an innovative program that helps teens avoid self-defeating behavior, develop self-esteem, improve academic achievement, and pursue opportunities for a promising future.

 

KENDALL BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

 

This is a before and after school program held during the school year at Kendall Elementary School.  It is professionally staffed and serves approximately 100 children of school district’s working parents.

  

CONSULTATION AND EDUCATION

 

The Center offers education and consultation programs for the community.  Staff members are available to speak to school staff, parent groups, community and business groups.  Senior clinical staff also provide psychiatric and child development consultation to community agencies, local public and private schools, and state agencies.

 

Ø      Psychiatric consultation is provided to Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk, Westport, and Wilton Schools by the Center’s Senior Psychiatric Consultant.

Ø      Consultation, education, and training for the NEON Headstart program.  Our professional staff consults to assure quality services reaching hundreds of toddlers and pre-schoolers year round at several sites.

Ø      Parenting skill training, staff consultation, and developmental evaluation are provided at the Quinlan Cottage Halfway House – a community-based residential program for women recently released from incarceration and reunited with their children.

Ø      Education and consultation programs respond to requests from parents, schools, other community agencies and other professionals.

Ø      Our staff frequently speak to community groups on child development topics and mental health issues for children and families.

 

The Early Childhood Consultation Partnership Statewide Initiative

The Early Childhood Consultation Partnership (ECCP) builds capacity of early childhood providers to more effectively address the social and emotional needs of young children at individual, local, regional and statewide levels. The ECCP program is recognized throughout the state of Connecticut for providing exceptional quality early childhood mental health consultation services and for the consistency of its program structure and delivery. The Center provides services under the Partnership to providers in Fairfield County communities.
