CONSULTATION AND EDUCATION
The Center offers education and consultation programs for the community. Staff members are available to speak to school staff, parent groups, community and business groups. Senior clinical staff also provide psychiatric and child development consultation to community agencies, local public and private schools, and state agencies.
Ø Psychiatric consultation is provided to Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk, Westport, and Wilton Schools by the Center’s Senior Psychiatric Consultant.
Ø Consultation, education, and training of the NEON and Headstart programs. Our professional staff consults to assure quality services reaching hundreds of toddlers and pre-schoolers year round at several sites.
Ø Parenting skill training, staff consultation, and developmental evaluation are provided at the Quinlan Cottage Halfway House – a community-based residential program for women recently released from incarceration and reunited with their children.
Ø Education and consultation programs respond to requests from parents, schools, other community agencies and other professionals.
Ø Our staff frequently speak to community groups on child development topics and mental health issues for children and families..
Ø The center is a training site for graduate human service programs in the tri-state area. Field placements are available for 2nd year MSW candidates, MFT's, PhD's and Psy.D's. The center provides the required supervised hours to qualify practitioners pursuing their degrees to sit for the Connecticut licensing exams.
